Creating an Estimate Template

This guide will teach you how to save an estimate, with all the information in the estimate will as a template. After you find the WBS that you can use for some of your estimates, along with the columns, Insight views, etc, you can save an empty estimate as a template.

Create a new estimate or open an existing estimate.

Adjust the WBS, headings, assemblies, etc to include items that are normally in the estimates you work on.

 

 

When you are satisfied with the above work, you have 2 choices: in #3 below, a template is created with the Save As function, and in #4 below the estimate is saved as the default template.

Click on File in the toolbar,

  1. then on Save as.

  2. In the Save as window, make sure you are saving to the Templates folder.

  3. Give the template a name.

  4. Click the Save As Type dropdown

  5. And select Template.

  6. Click on Save.

The next time you click on File, the New, you’ll see the template you just made, and can start a new estimate based on it.

  1. Click on the Tools tab in the main tool bar.

  2. Click on Save as Default

  3. Click on Open default template to start a new estimate.
