1.

With your estimate open, click on the Summary tab.

2.

Then click the Adds and Cuts button.

3.

Clicking on the Add button will give you the option to add an absolute vale, or a percentage.

4.

Click on Add absolute value and a new line is added to the window.

5.

Under name enter Permit and uncer value enter 2,500.00

2,500 has been added to the estimate.

Adding Absolute values is straight forward. The amount (value) is simply added to the costs and is reflected in the total. The position of an absolute value in the hierarchy of the Adds/Cuts window has no effect on the final total amount. Its position influences the running total, but not the final total amount.

Adding percentage values is a different story. The position of the percentage value in the hierarchy controls which subtotal the percent acts upon. Additionally, percent values can be indented or outdented by pressing Control and the left or right arrow. In the screen captures below, we’ve added percent 1, and percent 2 which is indented under percent 1 by default. As you can see in the image below, when percent 2 is indented, it is acting upon the total of the Sales Price including percent 1.

Percent 1 is is acting on the total in the line above it #2. Percent 2, since it is indented under percent 1, is acting on the total which includes percent 1. (When first using this start with an estimate with a total that is easy to follow when the math is applied)

If control - left arrow is pressed while percent 2 is highlighted, it is moved to the same level as percent 1, and is then acting on the same total that percent 1 is acting on.

The Move up and Move down buttons can also be used to restructure the adds and cuts.

Hovering over the light bulb icon will reveal a short reminder of how to move items around in the adds and cuts window.

By structuring the Adds and Cuts in the way you want, many different pricing scenarios are available.
